    Responsibilities

    The Chief of Staff will join a growing organization responsible for technical solution delivery for NISA’s client servicing, trading, operational, and administrative infrastructure. Reporting to the Associate Chief Technology Officer, he or she will have broad day-to-day oversight of teams performing software development and enhancement.

     

    • Directly manage multiple teams of internal developers and external consultants, providing leadership to ensure optimal levels of collaboration and productivity
    • Delegate and track software assignments to drive project delivery
    • Coach and develop staff to help foster leadership pipeline
    • Contribute to the creation and tracking of department and staff goals and metrics
    • Assist in team facilitation and removal of agile project team roadblocks
    • Utilize a growing suite of shared services to make informed decisions on solution construction, and contribute to broader architectural and “build vs buy” decisions
    • Articulate and defend technical design decisions, including benefits and trade-offs related to risk management, resource optimization, and scalability, to both staff and peers
    • Evaluate and recommend balanced approach and specific actions to manage and reduce technical debt
    • Collaborate with PMO and Quality Engineering to establish and publish metrics and KPIs related to staff productivity and project progress
    • Contribute to and ensure adoption of architectural and coding standards and practices
    • Ensure execution of unit testing and code review practices
    • Collaborate with technical and non-technical resources outside of IT organization to understand and negotiate deliverables and timelines
    • Build and cultivate relationships with key business personnel as well as external vendors

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 10 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade applications in C# / .NET, Java, or similar object-oriented language in positions of increasing responsibility required
    • Minimum 10 years of experience designing data structures and writing and optimizing SQL queries in SQL Server or other relational database platform required
    • Minimum 5 years managing technical teams required
    • Strong knowledge of object-oriented software design patterns required.  Experience designing pluggable applications using inversion of control (IoC) structures preferred
    • Experience working with modern source control repositories such as Team Foundation Services (TFS) and Git required
    • Experience with statistical and financial packages such as MatLab, R, FinCAD, etc. a plus
    • Working knowledge of or experience using middleware solutions such as Mulesoft or Apigee a plus
    • Experience with DevOps concepts such as CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Kubernetes) preferred
    • Experience or familiarity with newer architectural paradigms such as microservices and event-driven structures preferred
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a field requiring strong analytical and quantitative skills such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or Information Systems required.  Advanced degree preferred
    • Experience working on agile teams strongly preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
    • Working knowledge of basic financial instruments and markets required.  Previous professional experience in financial services sector (asset management, banking, etc) strongly preferred.  CFA, CPA, FRM, CAIA, or other professional designation a plus
