    Responsibilities

    The Operational Risk Manager, under direction of the Chief Risk Officer, will support NISA’s risk management initiatives focused on enhancing enterprise and operational risk management and reporting. Operational risk objectives include enhancing operational risk measurement, analysis and reporting. Areas and activities for operational risk review include trade processing from trade execution to settlement, portfolio accounting and reporting, new product development, client service, client reporting, and IT controls and procedures. The Operational Risk Manager will work with business partners to produce and maintain Risk Control Self Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, BIAs, as well as manage loss event tracking.

    • Partner with business leaders to identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risks
    • Implement standard operational risk tools such as Loss Event Tracking, RCSAs, KRIs, and Scenario Analysis
    • Refine and review indicators and thresholds used to evaluate operational risks
    • Review, monitor and assess operational risk within various programs and departments and report to senior department managers
    • Identify key enterprise risk management activities; review related policies, procedures and processes
    • Advise senior management on enterprise risk and operational risk and control issues and best practices
    • Provide advice and guidance to senior managers and the firm management committee to mitigate or reduce enterprise and operational risks through consensus-building

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Experience in the financial services industry, including experience in operational risk management, risk & controls, operations, trading, consulting or audit, preferably in an investment management environment.
    • Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
    • Knowledge of best practices of internal control and operational risk management.
    • Knowledge or experience with Business Continuity Management, New Product Assessment, Vendor Risk Management and Information Security practices a plus.
    • Experience developing, designing or reengineering processes and controls and measuring their effectiveness. Six Sigma or other designations a plus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
