    The Software Architect will be responsible for solution design in a growing software development organization. The successful candidate will design technical architecture solutions that can span multiple platforms and include integration and authentication across domains; ensure delivery of secure systems that are optimized for performance and built to scale; articulate design considerations, tradeoffs, benefits, and recommendations for a technical architecture. Working in a fast-paced environment, the ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting teams with all phases of the SDLC as needed, from high-level design to coding, testing, and deployment. The Software Architect will also manage governance and daily operations of shared services, such as source control repositories, automated build services, application hosting platforms, integration platforms, and authorization and logging services.


    The Software Architect will additionally be relied upon for technological thought leadership, and will be tasked with investigating and recommending new and emerging technologies to NISA. They will be a motivated self-started who is comfortable working on fast-paced teams and is capable of promoting the benefits of new technologies and approaches to both technology and business colleagues. 


    The Software Architect should have at least a working knowledge of financial instruments and markets, and should be comfortable directly interacting with business clients in the back, middle, and front offices of a financial services organization. 


    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a field requiring strong analytical and quantitative skills such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or Information Systems required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
    • Minimum ten years of experience developing and supporting enterprise-grade applications in C#, Java, or similar object-oriented language required. Expert knowledge of core APIs required.
    • 7 years of expertise in designating n-tier applications with relational or non-relational database backend required.
    • Experience designing data structures and writing and optimizing SQL queries in SQL Server or other relational database platform required.
    • Expert knowledge of object-oriented software design patterns required. Experience designing pluggable applications using inversion of control (IoC) structures strongly preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
    • Working knowledge of financial instruments and markets required. Previous professional experience in financial services sector strongly preferred.  CFA, CPA, FRM, CAIA, or other professional designation a plus.
    • Experience working with modern source control repositories such as Team Foundation Services (TFS) and git required. Experience administering source control repositories and defining branching strategies a plus.
    • Experience building and managing REST-ful services and shared APIs strongly preferred.
    • Experience working with modern frameworks, technologies, and concepts such as .NET core, MVC, Angular, Bootstrap, SignalR, Redis, JSON serialization, and single-page applications strongly preferred.
    • Experience working on agile teams strongly preferred.
    • Experience with DevOps concepts such as CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker) strongly preferred.
    • Experience building solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure strongly preferred. Experience with integration in hybrid cloud environment strongly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of or experience using middleware solutions such as Mulesoft or Apigee preferred.
    • Experience implementing non-relational databases such as Apache Cassandra and MongoDB preferred.
    • Experience working with statistical packages such as MatLab, R, or Octave a plus.
